www.ericthecarguy.com Well this was a fun one to make. I believe I covered everything but if you feel I haven’t please let me know in the comments below as well as any tips you might have to add as well. I’m not trying to make a big deal about “pound feet” or “foot pounds” I’m just trying to put that out there, the important thing is that you get the proper torque and get the job done right in my opinion, what you decide to call it is up to you. You say oil, but was wondering if you think anti-sieze compound(silverish-grey looking compound) is a good or bad idea? Being that ARP Ultra-tourqe is so pricey. And on a lighter side, tell your boss(haha) to give you a raise so you can buy a shirt with coller & sleeves…lol

could you show how to use the torque angle gauge? i cant figure out how it works. seems simple, but it doesnt come with instructions. my car says step one; 27 ft/Ibs, step 2; turn an additional 120 degrees.

Do you know what VOICE COIL & LINEAR MOTORS are ? I use them to convert fuel engines into electric. Fixing them to the head & piston tops. EXAMPLE ; (L.M.)#BLDD-06 makes 0to200lbs(24/7)/600lbs peak@10%duty of PUSH & PULL forces @ – + 12G’s/20G’s peak FROM ONLY 0to4amps/12amps peak. (NO COMPRESSION STROKE) Taken from H2W Technologies online specs catalog.(push & pull forces of ^2k lbs off the shelf are possible) 1st patented in the 1840′s i build my own. WE have NOT needed fuel since 1829.

Hi Eric, can you tell us the model # of your short and long Snap-on torque wrenches and where do you buy Snap-On tools from? Second question, if you had to regrind the head flat on a car with 156K (honda 2004 ex with VTEC engine) or would you buy the head and transfer all the valve seats etc over from the old head… or just bite the bullet and get the complete head with all the tackle new?

my problem when i remove my cylinder head there are three bolts stuck up i can’t remove it anymore until the head was twisted and broken. i use drilling and gas welding and electric welding it can’t be remove. now i am deciding to destroy the cylinder head just to separate it from the block and to replace it with new one.

Do you have any tips or information on the threads in an aluminum block? Are these threads damaged after they are torqued once? Do you have to redrill them? To be exact I thinking about the GM’s Northstar engines. I have heard that the threads in the aluminum block weaken or stretch. What do you know about those engines and the problems with headgasket failures?

Hey Eric, thanks. I learned a lot from all your videos. My question is, is it safe to leave the timing cover off(removed)? they seem to be a pain to remove and install.

Hi Eric! When it comes to torque it can be deceptive. I torqued my transmission pan bolts to spec and bent up the pan and ended up having to replace it because it kept leaking. Just an FYI sometimes feel is better than spec..
